This event is being organised to remember Brenton Kaitler, a valued member of the local mountain biking community who tragically passed away last year while riding in the local area. Teams of two will need to complete the course together and remain within two minutes of each other throughout the ride. This is a similar format to some of the Epic MTB race series (https://www.epic-series.com/) - a format that Brenton really loved. Parking is available off Wallace Street. Course To cater to varying abilities, we plan to offer two course options: Long Course: A 36.5 km loop with 800 meters of climbing from Beechworth to Yackandandah returning after Homeward bound via My Little Pinky and Yack Gate Rd. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50358507  Short Course: A 19 km loop of the Beechworth Epic loop which includes 300 meters of climbing. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50358467 More detail regarding the Indigo Epic trail is available here: https://www.victoriashighcountry.com.au/ride/mountain-biking/indigo-epic-trail/    Timing Timing will be provided on the day. BCG Advanced Juniors Program - Term 4 2024 and Term 1 2025
Beechworth MTB Park
10-10-2024 16:30 – 03-04-2025 17:30
In term 4 2024 Beechworth Chain Gang is launching a new program aimed at advanced junior riders who are interested in further developing their skills, riding within a supportive group, and potentially competing in local and regional races (primarily enduro).  The program is aimed at riders aged 12 years or older, although younger riders with advanced skills are welcome. The program will include: Weekly skills sessions and social rides in Beechworth (some with shuttles) Some weekend social rides to mtb parks and trails in the region eg Bright, Mt Beauty, Falls Creek Race preparation and club support on race days especially local enduro races Possible addition to be confirmed  – 1 or 2 sessions per term with professional coaches We understand not all participants will be interested in racing, and those riders are still welcome. Weekly sessions will likely be each Thursday afternoon (if suitable to most interested riders) from 4:30 to 6:00 pm starting 10 October 2024 and run through till the end of term 1 2025.  The program will primarily run during school term although there may be some activities and races during school holidays for those who are interested (eg Alpine Cycling Club summer mtb race series). The program will be run by club volunteer coaches with Auscycling instructor accreditation and ‘special guests’ from amongst our highly skilled Beechworth mountain biking community assisting with sessions on specific skills, trail guidance, race craft and race preparation.  The program will also focus on knowledge sharing and encouragement amongst the group. The program is intended for more advanced riders who are confident in riding most of the trails at Beechworth Mountain Bike Park, and with an interest in developing their skills on black/advanced trails (eg Dr Hongs).  Riders will need a good level of fitness and be capable of climbing the ascent trails at Beechworth and Bright (as examples) without difficulty. Participants must have a mechanically sound dual suspension trail or enduro bike, together with helmet and riding gloves at all times.  For some sessions and races a full-face helmet, knee and elbow protection will be required. Cost: $120 (covers both term 4 2024 and term 1 2025) What’s included: Weekly skills sessions, social rides and shuttles in Beechworth MTB jersey, to be designed by the group What’s not included: Auscycling membership is essential - Race membership will be need for participants wanting to race Race entry fees - for those who are racing Additional costs for weekend social rides and other activities eg professional coaching sessions Parent support will be required to assist with transport to races and weekend social rides outside of Beechworth. This is the first year that BCG has run the program and the input of participants and parents is welcome to shape the program and make it a success. Questions?
